If you aren’t obsessed with hearts year round, it isn’t practical to spend money on plates that are going to collect dust on your top cabinet. Personally, I love my plain, white china because the simplicity fits both casual and formal occasions and because I have limited cabinet space. You can thank my coffee mugs for that!
Last week I was doing my usual ‘you’re addicted to Target, but don’t realize it’ rounding and as I was getting ready to check out, I spotted these gold heart-shaped stickers! I wanted them, but I wasnt sure what I wanted them for (a tell tale sign of an addict, btw). What the heck, a few dollars later they were sitting pretty in my front seat. Then it hit me! These would be the perfect addition to my dinner plates. I had a vision in mind and couldn’t wait to get home to execute it!
Not only are they gold heart dinner plates appropriate for Valentine’s Day, they are the easiest to make! I made sure that stickers could be easily removed after the fact, so you guys are good to go if you want to try it!
You’ll only need:
2 dinner plates
1 packet of Gold Stickers from Target (the ones I found in the stationary section contain 80 stickers) you can find similar ones here containing 48 stickers
1 measuring tape
The first thing I did was to wash and dry my plates thoroughly. Then I placed the plate in front of me, making sure that the heart I was adhering to the plate was facing me. This will allow circular symmetry of the hearts. With the measuring tape, I measured the first sticker at about 1 inch below the edge of the plate.
After that, I measured about 4 inches between the edge of one heart and the next, continuing to turn the plate with the placement of each heart.
Should you not want to use your personal china for this, head on over to your local thrift shop or dollar store and you’ll find some really inexpensive plates! You can certainly use paper plates for this, although the fact that you can use your real ones the biggest bonus!
Make your Valentine’s Day a special one by adding little details that will surely be appreciated! This touch of gold brought the plates full circle for the occasion and I think my hubby is going to love them. What can I say? Target did it again! 😉
