I’m so excited that Halloween is finally here! My stepson and I loveeee decorating for halloween, and I have tons of boxes in the attic allocated to October. Many of our goodies are for the outdoors; pumpkins, brooms, huge spider webs that light up- you name it, we have it! But, we also love taking the time to decorate the inside and thoroughly enjoy it throughout the month.
Except that, this year, things happened a little differently. Due to the nature of hurricane Matthew, we had to postpone our decor and focus our attention on making sure we were adequately prepared for the storm. Luckily we were spared, and are now getting our schedules back to the norm. While we were cooped up waiting for the storm to pass, my stepson mention how we “wouldn’t be able to decorate for halloween”. So, i took it upon myself to get everything sorted out of the attic while he was at his mom’s and hope to surprise him when he gets back this week!
I bet he’ll be excited!!
The goal was to put a touch of spooky everywhere, instead of overdoing it. Which I almost always do. I bought a posing skeleton, which I’ve wanted since forever! We didnt get it in previous years because Dylan was younger and we were afraid to scare him. But I think this year, he’s gonna get a kick out of this guy, sorta like an Elf of the Shelf where he’ll do something silly every morning and every night! I think it’s gonna be fun!
The bat decals are always such a hit anywhere they go! They were a nice contrast to my shiplap and are easy to place on the wall.
Here’s one of the pumpkins I painted! I can’t say enough what a great idea this was!! It took little to no time and at after the 31st, they’ll simply get tossed out. I chose the Krylon black spray paint in a matted finish. Totally digging it over a shiny finish.
Dylan and I have been collecting the ornaments you see here for years back when Pier1 started this. It all started 7 years ago with the spooky tree and 2 ornament.s The following year Pier1 presented a few more. We made it our goal to collect them all and now we do. They’ve since discontinued this collection. I’m obsessed with their big heads and little bodies, haha! Can you spot the devil?
This seemed like the perfect time to pull out my black and white mud cloth pillows! They blend in with our little black and white theme nicely! I can’t get enough of them.
This little skull pillow add as a bit of spooky to the couch and is just enough.
I got my ravens last year when Michael’s had their after halloween clearance and totally forgot about them! Don’t you love when that happens? The gold skull is from this year and I’m so tempted to leave it out afterwards ;).
More of my black pumpkins on the shelves! Easy and inexpensive way to add a bit of halloween fun.
In our bedroom, I added a few more decals! This time the spooky spiders, because duh! I also used displayed my black and white pillow covers from Hobby Lobby.
Though typically, I don’t decorate with much black, this halloween, I’m really digging it! I can’t wait to see the look on Dylan’s face when he sees what we’ve done with the place! Hope you’ve enjoyed this little bit of spooky fun as much as me!
